I’m a portrait artist.
But this year I’ve been painting flowers.
Flowers have faces, right?
The thing is, painting portraits is very emotional work, and this year I haven’t had extra emotional resources. So, I decided to paint flowers. I approached each painting as if it were a portrait. As if each flower had a face and an essence that I was going to capture.
I’ve LOVED it.
Artists have a hard time sticking to one thing. So, here’s to portrait painting…and botanical art too. And whatever comes next.
